Availability of the Activity
Save the Children has a limited number of charity places in this Activity (2027 TCS London Marathon), each of which it has to pay for. As such, Save the Children must ensure the places are used effectively. Save the Children may withdraw your place if you do not meet the fundraising milestones, if you repeatedly fail to respond to communications from Save the Children, or if you use fundraising methods that are unlawful or in contravention of our donation acceptance policy which can be found here.
Fundraising Agreement
You agree to raise a minimum of £2,800 (exclusive of Gift Aid and any registration fee) with the full amount by event day.
Upon registration, you commit to the following fundraising milestones (excluding gift aid and registration fees) for the Activity:
· You must set an online fundraising page up within two weeks of confirming your charity place. We expect you to start receiving donations on your online fundraising page within one month of registration.
Once your page is set up, you commit to fundraise at least:
- £700 (25%) by 1st October 2026
- £1,400 (50%) by 1st December 2026 - when you reach this milestone, we will provide you with a code to register with the event organisers.
- £1,800 (65%) by 1st February 2027
- £2,800 (100%) due by event day - 25th April 2027
More detailed information on the conditions of entry can be found in the Terms and Conditions below.
Donations you or your friends and family make must be paid directly to the Save the Children Fund, or through an approved online fundraising partner (e.g. Enthuse). You must make it clear through your fundraising that you are raising money for Save the Children. The money you raise will support children all over the world, wherever the need is greatest. When seeking donations in support of London Marathon, you must not indicate or imply to donors that payment is conditional to you completing the Activity.
Your Charity Entry
We will send you an email relating to your registration with the event organisers. Within two weeks of receiving this email, you must complete an additional online registration. This registration is mandatory and if you do not complete it, you may be withdrawn from the Activity. We will not be able to offer refunds on registrations fees or fundraising should this occur.
You confirm you will not participate in the Activity if you are injured, not in good health, or not fit enough to undertake the Activity safely. Save the Children is not hosting this Activity and is in no way responsible for the Activity.
Deferrals & Injuries
You agree that if you withdraw for any reason prior to the Activity, any monies raised will be non-refundable and will be treated as a donation.
If you are injured and unable to take part in the event, please let us know as soon as possible. If you tell us before 1st February 2027, we may be able to offer the place to another applicant. After this, we will lose the place and the fundraising income.
We will assess deferral requests on a case-by-case basis and you will only be eligible if you have reached the fundraising milestone required by the time of the deferral request.
Note that if we agree to defer your place, any money raised will be treated as a donation and you will need to commit to raising the full fundraising pledge in the following year. Exceptions to this will be made on a case-by-case basis. Please note that in the event that the Activity is cancelled in the following year, we will not be able to defer your place but instead, where possible, offer you a charity place in another Activity.
We will only defer a place for one year. If your place in the Activity is deferred, the fundraising pledge may increase for the following year. We will confirm this with you at the time you wish to defer.
